Petra Blaisse, known for her interdisciplinary work at Inside Outside, is closely involved in the development of the Makerstoren. For her, this place is not only a design issue, but also a social and cultural statement. "I see the Makerstoren as a cluster of creative makers," says Blaisse. "A place where photographers, graphic designers, engineers and other disciplines come together. It is precisely this diversity that makes it powerful."
According to Blaisse, a creative workplace in Amsterdam is not about temporary solutions or flex spaces, but sustainable workspaces where makers can grow, experiment and stay long-term. "I am a pioneer, but also a colleague. In the Makerstoren , I feel at home among like-minded people," she adds.
Sustainability as a starting point
What really sets Makerstoren apart is its focus on sustainability and well-being. The building is designed with the future in mind. From green roofs and energy-efficient installations to re-use of materials and smart use of space - everything is aimed at minimising the ecological footprint. Blaisse also emphasises the importance of outdoor space: "Outdoor space is becoming increasingly important. The fact that the Makerstoren also offers opportunities to work outside is a big plus. Nice detail: we provided the greenery advice for this project."
This vision translates into workspaces that are not only practical but also contribute to the well-being of their users. The presence of outdoor workspaces, green areas and relaxation spaces makes the Makerstoren a place where balance between work and rest is key.
